German beer taps
Eins, zwei, G'suffa!
"One, two, drink!"
a charming German toast,
often overheard at Oktoberfest.
Fine wine and German food
Come Join us for OKTOBERFEST! A Central Coast tradition of great food and fun for 15 years.
Thursday through Sunday, Mid-September through Early November, 2009
The History of Oktoberfest:
This tradition started back in October 1810 when proud Bavarians gathered to celebrate the marriage of their future king Crown Prince Ludwig, to a Saxon princess. Their wedding was celebrated with a public festival when the royal family invited the people of Munich to free beer and a horse race. Thus, Oktoberfest was born as the festival was repeated yearly on the couple's wedding anniversary.
How Old Vienna celebrates:
Here at the Old Vienna we try to recreate the fun, food and celebration that is Oktoberfest! Although we don't have bagpipes and oxen parades, we do have authentic food, music, singing, dancing and, of course, the Oktoberfest beers! Be warned that the spirit of hospitality and good cheer are contagious during Oktoberfest, so don't hesitate to sit with persons previously unknown. We also have raffle drawings for prizes (including gift certificates, beer glasses, and special Oktoberfest memorabilia). Spontaneous contests may breakout, such as coaster-flipping or finger-wrestling. So get your tickets now and be ready for the fun of Oktoberfest!
